Summer Giveaway #6) "Cows Can't Jump" Children's Book Review & Giveaway!

I grew up reading book after book and loving to read, and I want my children to do the same! But I do feel like it's important for each book they read to have some sort of learning experience, or story that will help them to learn something new from reading it! When I discovered this ADORABLE book "Cows Can't Jump" by Dave Reisman, I had to find out more about it. I took a look at their website and viewed the sample pages provided, and I immediately contacted them about a review. When they agreed, I was so so excited!

"Cow's Can't Jump" is a fully-illustrated, 44 page book for young readers. The book introduces many useful verbs (stampede, fly, wallow, among many others). It also introduces all kinds of unique animals – lizards, bats, and sloths, in an innovative and positive environment. As you can see from the title, the book talks about things that different animals can’t do. However, for every single can’t, there is also a can.

This book is a great way to teach self esteem to young children. The book states over and over many things that the animals can't do, but then immediately lists something that they are great at! It is a perfect way to teach children that even though they might not be able to do something that they would like to do, they have their own special talents and abilities that are unique to only them! Like trying to feed a piggy in a book... :)

This book is so great because even with {B} being too young to actually read or even really understand, he still absolutely LOVED the book at 15 months old. He is just starting to learn his animals and animal sounds, so we were able to point at each picture and make all of the noises each one makes, and he loved all of the illustrations. Jason Maas is the brilliant illustrator of the book. His creative artistry of each animal is amazing. The expressions on the animals faces, and the colors of each page are just astounding. This is as much an adult book as it is a kid book, it really is up there on my favorites list of kids books!


If you need the perfect bedtime book for you and your family, you will definitely want to invest in this one. It is long enough that your child will actually have time to fall asleep, and it even ends like all bedtime books should, with the character falling asleep. :)
